Upper Elementary Enriched Curriculum

We offer Upper Elementary students (Grades 5–8) an enriched curriculum that both challenges and inspires. Beyond strong academics, students are encouraged to explore a wide range of interests, develop leadership, and build community through diverse opportunities.

Highlights of the Upper Elementary Enrichment Program include:

Academic Reach Ahead: Grade 8 students may complete Grade 9 math, giving them a head start on secondary school studies.

Field Trips & Cultural Experiences

Visits to theatres, art galleries, museums, and conservation areas
Overnight trips that extend learning beyond the classroom
Guest speakers who bring global and cultural insights into the school

STEM

Visits to conservation areas for real-world exploration of environmental sustainability
Wheatley students often qualify and win at competitions such as the Niagara Regional Science and Engineering Fair

Physical Education & Athletics

Lunchtime games for friendly competition and team building
After-school inter-school teams in a variety of sports
Participation in track and field, gymnastics, and more
Recipient of the Quality Daily Physical Education Recognition Award

Clubs & Leadership

Opportunities to join clubs such as chess, robotics, and computers
Participation in Student Council to develop leadership and responsibility
Beginning in Grade 5, students join one of four Houses, fostering school pride, community, and cross-grade friendships

Music & the Arts

Students may join the choir beginning in Grade 3
Private piano and voice lessons offered during school hours for interested students
Annual musical theatre production and artistic experiences
